In 1976 I got a Steve Miller album, “Fly Like an Eagle”, and I nearly wore out the record over a tune called “Mercury Blues”. In the early 2000s I was commissioned by the city of Frutia Colorado to create some unique park benches for the town. I had recently bought a Mercury car bumper, at an automotive swap meet.
I knew I wanted to use the bumper, in a bench. Complete with metallic blue powder coat and some chrome, featuring a chopped Merc as a back rest, I was humming the classic Stevie “Guitar” miller song as I was bolting on the finishing touches. |

The City of Fruita has been a great partner on adding artistic benches, and bike racks all over town. One of my most popular bike racks is the now famous Hand Cuff bike rack in front of the Fruita, Colorado Police Department. |
